They work at different stages and deliver different types of shine. Liquid Luster is a rinse-out in-shower treatment applied after conditioner — it deposits a light Roucou Oil film on the cuticle before any heat or styling touches the hair. OI Oil is a post-blowdry finishing step that seals and enhances the result. Using both in sequence gives the maximum OI gloss result.
Does Davines OI Liquid Luster work on fine hair without making it heavy?
Yes — Liquid Luster is notably lightweight for a shine treatment. The formula is designed to rinse almost completely clean, leaving behind only the light Roucou Oil film that creates gloss. Fine-haired clients at Moda use it regularly without volume complaints, particularly when applying to mid-lengths and ends only.
How long should Davines OI Liquid Luster be left on before rinsing?
The standard application is 30 seconds to one minute before rinsing — it is designed to work fast. Do not leave it on longer expecting a deeper result; the active deposit happens quickly and extended contact time does not increase the shine effect. Rinse thoroughly and proceed with styling as usual.
Can I use Davines OI Liquid Luster before colour or chemical services?
Skip Liquid Luster on the wash before a colour or chemical service. Any product that deposits a film on the cuticle — even a light one — can create a barrier that affects colour uptake or chemical processing. Wash with OI Shampoo only before your service appointment and resume Liquid Luster on your next home wash.
What does '6x more shine' actually mean in Davines' OI Liquid Luster claims?
